Operations on virtual machines

Operations are divided into basic and additional. All operations on a virtual machine launched from VMmanager are recorded in the log: go to Virtual machines → open the virtual machine page → History tab. Active operations are displayed on the Task Queue tab.

Basic operations
Basic operations are launched in Virtual machines → menu or in Virtual machines → open the virtual machine page:

  • Start / Stop - start / stop the virtual machine;
  • Restart - restart the virtual machine;
  • Reinstall - install a new operating system on the virtual machine:
    • select the Operating System to install;
    • select Script to run after operating system installation. Scripts prepare virtual machines for work. For example, by installing the required software and setting up configuration files.
    • enter the Password to access the VM. Click Generate to automatically generate a password;
  • Recovery mode - start / stop recovery mode;
  • Change password - specify a new password for the virtual machine superuser;
  • VNC - open a connection to the virtual machine desktop in the web interface.
  • Create backup - create a backup copy of the virtual machine.
  • Clone - create a copy of the virtual machine;
  • Create VM Image - create a custom image based on the virtual machine disk.
  • Run script on VM - select the script that will be launched on the virtual machine via the SSH protocol;
  • Note - add an arbitrary comment to the virtual machine;
  • Delete - delete the virtual machine.

Additional operations

Additional operations are available in Virtual machines → open the virtual machine page.

On the Information tab, click Change Resources to specify for the virtual machine:

  • vCPU is the number of processors. Indicated in units;
  • RAM - the amount of RAM. Indicated in MB;
  • Storage - the amount of disk space. Indicated in MB.

The virtual machine must be restarted to apply the resource changes. Click Change and Reboot to start the reboot immediately. Or click Delay Reboot to reboot the virtual machine later.

On the IP addresses tab - the addresses assigned to the virtual machine:

click Add IP Address to add a new address. Select which network the address belongs to - Primary or Secondary, specify the Number of IPv4 addresses, select the Pool from which the address will be allocated, and click Add. VMmanager will automatically change the network settings in the virtual machine OS.

Note!

VMmanager does not change network settings for virtual machines running Windows OS.

On the Statistics tab - information about the resource consumption of the virtual machine. Select the period for displaying statistics and the type of resource:

  • CPU - processor load;
  • RAM - the consumed amount of RAM;
  • Storage - consumed hard disk space;
  • Input-output operations (IOPS);
  • Incoming traffic speed;
  • Outgoing traffic speed.

On the VNC Settings tab - the data that is used to connect to the virtual machine via VNC:

  • VNC server;
  • VNC port;
  • Password to access the VNC server.

On the Recovery Images tab, a list of virtual machine disk images that can be used as backups. The backup allows you to restore the state of the virtual machine disk. Click Recover to permanently delete the current virtual machine disk and replace it with the disk from the backup.
